Obituary for Bruce Allen Yount

Bruce Allen Yount, age 93, of Connoquenessing Twp., passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 while under the care of VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born October 15, 1925 in Mt. Oliver, he was the son of the late Walter Allen Yount and Margaret Allene Dunn Yount.

Bruce was a graduate of Baldwin High School and held a Bachelor in Business from Washington and Jefferson College. He served proudly during WWII in Central Europe in the Army Air Corps as a tail gunner in the 493rd Bombardment Group. He was shot down on his 25th mission and taken prisoner of war. He earned two bronze stars and a purple heart. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler and was a member of the Merry Mature Methodists. Bruce was employed by G.C. Murphy, Denny Rayburn and Anderson Products and was promoted to industrial branch manager. During his working years, he was member of the F & A Masons and the Shrine. His wife of 73 years, Helen, was the love of his life. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Bruce leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Helen Louise Yount whom he married on November 21, 1945; his daughters, Nancy Failoni and her husband, Dennis, of Jupiter, FL, and Deborah Walker and her husband, Bill, of Butler; his grandchildren, Lisa Murphy and her husband, Jim, Julie Brugger and her husband, Steve, Laura Mac, Kelly Yonston, Shannon Kiger and her husband, Brent, Ryan Walker and his fiancé, Morgan; his eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Robert Yount of Hayward, CA and Mary Lou Keeler of Ogden, UT, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Allen Yount Jr., and a sister, Betty Herpich.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Connoquenessing Twp., 856 Evans City Rd., Renfrew, PA 16053.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce’s memory to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E North St, Butler, PA 16001.
